Santa was almost a bust!

I was going to publish video of Gavin's Christmas morning, but apparently the file is too big because it won't upload - grrr! The only thing that Gavin asked for this Christmas was a vacuum! He even answered 2 separate times to Santa that yes, he would indeed like a vacuum this Christmas. Santa came through, of course, but Gavin suddenly wasn't so sure! He took one look at the vacuum and decided to hide behind Mommy. Uh-oh! You see, Santa only brings one present - the one present you REALLY want. So there we were in Michigan and Santa had indeed delivered...and Gavin was not really into it. He wanted me to turn it on, in fact he insisted I turn it on, but had a death grip on my pajamas and hid behind my back making his demands. Ok, so here goes. I turn the vacuum on and the second Gavin hears it's whiny little wrrr noise, all tension breaks and he immediately grabs it from my hands to start vacuuming the carpet. It was like he wasn't sure it was going to bite, but as soon as he deemed it "not scary", all was well. Whew!

I broke our camera taking pictures over Christmas and "luckily" it only costs $130 plus shipping to have it repaired (unless they find something more is wrong, then I will receive an e-mail explaining additional costs). Yippy. So I won't be posting any new pictures until I get my camera back. I will post the Christmas pictures I have and luckily I didn't break it until Christmas night so you'll get a full post worth of pictures. Oh, and I have a few from my camera phone too - try not to get too excited.

We had a great holiday - Jon's family was here the weekend before and then we headed to Michigan and we were busy non-stop from the time we crossed the border to the time we crossed it again! Gavin was a trooper per usual on the 10 hour trek each way. New Years was quiet with just the 3 of us, but it was a good day and probably the most relaxing of the season with nowhere to go and nothing to do! Here's the pictures and keep your fingers crossed for a quick recovery for my camera! I might try another, shorter video in a few days - stay tuned!

I tried to get Gavin to smile in front of our tree - no dice!

Gavin with the "not scary" vacuum

Hey, what's in there?

The best family picture we could get of all 3 of us

Greenfield Village in Dearborn to see the Lego display - he liked the combine the best!

Grandpa Gary and Gavin on the combine...thrilling!

He really got into unwrapping presents this year

Riley got a new toy from Mark, Tami and Allie - she's annoyed that I'm making her balance it on her nose while taking a picture. I still think it's funny... Riley still thinks it's annoying!

Gavin LOVES the train table and trains from Jon and I - he wakes up in the morning asking to go "play trains"!

The best thing about Christmas? Christmas cookies!!!

  1. That is SO funny -- Bean did the exact same thing with his vacuum at first!! His friend Emily has one that he plays with *all the time* but when he got his own, he freaked out. He did get over it in a day or two, though... but it was so anti-climatic at the time. lol
