Quakers and other random thoughts

I don't have any new pictures to post just yet, but the camera is fixed so we should be up and running soon! Gavin has been cracking us up with a few conversations lately, so I thought I would type those in before I forget them.
Sunday we were going to church and we were talking about it with Gavin and of course his way of communicating is asking a question, which he then wants you to repeat so he can then answer the question. It's amusing, but I did realize that we talk A LOT when Gavin is awake. So here is how the conversation went:
G - Where we going?
Me - Where are we going?
G - Are we going to church?
Me - Are we going to Church?
G - Mmm, Hmm. We get to say Hi-ii (in a sing song voice)

He has also started this (not so cute) way of letting us know that he is awake in his crib. This morning (6am) it was like this :
G - ehh, ehh, ehh....ehh, ehh, ehh (rhythmic grunting - who knew?)
Me - after about 5 minutes, I trek upstairs.
G - Want the yellow car.
Me - Here's the yellow car, you're stepping on it.
G - Want the other yellow car.
Me - Oh, honey - it's too early to play, lay down. We'll get the yellow car when we get up.
G - WANT THE OTHER YELLOW CAR.
Me - What yellow car Gavin?
G - The one with the stripes on it.
Me - trek downstairs, look through multitude of matchbox cars laying around. Find yellow car with black stripes, trek upstairs to Gavin laying comfortably in crib.
Me - Ok, here's the car, lay down for a little while longer until it's time to get up.
G - (sure lady, whatever you say). (20 minutes later....)
G - ehh, ehh, ehh.... ehh, ehh, ehh.

Then at breakfast was this discussion about the breakfast bar he was eating. He likes to have the wrappers to things, so you may open the breakfast bar package, but DO NOT remove the breakfast bar from the package. Same goes for pretty much anything else in any type of package, wrapper, etc. Heaven help you if you actually remove a straw wrapper at a restaurant - you will want to crawl under the table for the fit that follows THAT infraction! Anywho, we were sitting eating breakfast and Gavin points to the package and says "who's that?". I look and explain that it's the Quaker oats man. Gavin then says "He makes the breakfast bars. He makes the breakfast bars for Gavin". Yup, the Quaker oats man makes the breakfast bars for Gavin! We had a good chuckle at that one!

I'll get to taking and posting pictures as soon as I can.

  1. Too funny!! I just love listening to toddlers develop language... although I could do without the fits that also seem to increase with their vocabulary.
