When the box says "3+", they really mean "30+"

We will be celebrating our Christmas before we head to Michigan on Tuesday. Probably Sunday night, but when it's not really Christmas, it doesn't really matter what day you're pretending it is to exchange gifts. Anyway, Jon and I bought Gavin a Thomas train set - which was going to be his big gift from us....Until we saw the train table in the Target ad after Thanksgiving for $60!! I mean, who can pass that up? Not that I have even the faintest idea where this will go in our house, but for $60 I guess I'll be figuring that out real quick. Anyway, I've been asking (nagging) Jon to put the table together so we are not up until 2am the night before trying to get it put together just to realize there is one major part that is missing/cracked/warped... you get the idea. So tonight was the night and we both settled in to the task at hand. The table itself was easy-peasy and we only had to remove the screws once to put in a piece that we forgot. So I decided to take a look at the Thomas train set just to see what it looked like. Jon was asking (nagging) me why I needed to do that tonight, and I told him I just wanted to see what it consisted of. Flash forward 2 hours and Jon and I are trying to put together train tracks that
1) actually connect
2) make sense
3) fit on the table
4) use the pieces that are provided without resorting to tears

But alas, the train and the table are fully assembled and Gavin is going to LOVE it!! For a girl who grew up with Cabbage Patch Dolls and Strawberry Shortcakes Berry Trolley, even I have to admit that it's pretty cool. I can't wait for "Christmas" to play with it again!
