All of us headed to Wisconsin to celebrate Garrett's 1st birthday - we were hoping to avoid the heat and humidity but it followed us there! Luckily, Aunt Jennifer had a huge water slide to help Gavin avoid the heat (Aunt Jennifer scores major brownie points for all the fun stuff at her house). We had a good long weekend with all of them although it was hectic with a 3 1/2 year old, a 1 year old and 2 month old and ONLY 6 adults to manage them!! Then when we were trying to leave, our flight was cancelled and Jennifer had to drive us to Minneapolis to catch another flight and we didn't get home until midnight - not fun! All in all we had a good trip though and it was nice to visit with everyone.
Jon had to head back to Dallas for one last week of training so I decided to head to Michigan with the kiddos to spend the week with my Mom and Dad. I weighed the options and a short flight with 2 kids seemed less painful than an entire week with 2 kids with no Jon to ease some of the burden. For the most part I was right, but after we landed back in St. Louis, Gavin decided to throw a fit because he couldn't use the bathroom on the plane after we landed and his fit lasted until we got into the car, so that was a bummer way to end the trip. We had a nice time in Michigan and we had lots of visiting to do - I thought it would be a quiet week with not a lot going on, but we were busy, busy, busy all week. Harper did great on both flights and had a good week in Michigan too. I switched her formula while we were there because she just seemed gassy and uncomfortable and when I went to buy more formula, low and behold they sell a gentle formula for fussiness and gas! It seems to be working pretty well so far.
So now we are back at home and I only have a couple weeks left before I head back to work - I'm both dreading the day and looking forward to it. I know that staying at home is not for me, but 12 weeks sure does fly by! I still have the one month pictures of harper to post and I got a picture of me when I was born to post so we can compare Harper to me when I was a newborn. Gavin's heading to My Gym camp this week and next for a couple hours Tuesday and Thursday, which is good because it's hotter than blazes here. I pushed Gavin in the swing for about 5 minutes this morning and then he said it was too hot to play outside and could we go back in! I hope he enjoys having other kids to play with at least for a few hours.
Grandma, Gavin, Grandpa and Harper (this was the 6th take!)
Bathtime at Grandma's house - buddha baby barely fits in the sink!
Aunt Lola and Uncle Richard came to meet Harper - they had just returned from meeting their new grandson Andrew in Colorado.
My BFF Lisa came to meet Harper too!
My other BFF Kim's sister Kathie came to meet Miss Harper with her two kids, Kurt and Kaylie
We spent the day at my Mom's friends pool and house with their grandson Joe - who was extremely nice to let Gavin drive the Gator ALOT! They drove circles around the house and one time, Gavin drove by alone and we asked where Joe was and Gavin said he told him to "pick him up at 9" - they had a grand time!
At their pool - Gavin loves the slides!
Great Grandpa and Great Grandma got to visit with Gavin and Harper.
Grandpa gave Gavin some money for his piggy bank and they had fun counting out the dollar bills.
Harper turns 2 months old, this was the best picture I could get.
Harper smiling!
The cousins - Gavin, Harper and Garrett - in their patriotic attire!
This one looks like they are laughing at some private joke!
