Harper Reese
Born May 12 at 5:02 am
9 pounds 2 ounces
21 3/4 inches long
No Friday the 13th baby for us! I didn't move the c-section date because I knew if I did, something would go awry. As it turns out, Harper made the decision for us that she preferred the 12th of May as a birth day. I started having contractions on Wednesday night but they weren't consistent or overly painful. Called the exchange and the doctor said to drink water and rest, didn't sound like "active" labor - I went to bed on Wednesday contraction free in fact.
I was startled awake at 2:15 am by a large POP and a flood of water! I told Jon my water broke, we had to go. Luckily my Mom and Dad had arrived that evening so we only had to wake them to let them know and we were on our way. I think my body just waits for the Gish family to arrive and then goes into labor, as the same thing happened last time. Jennifer had arrived to entertain me during bed rest and I went into labor that night!
The doctor commented on the babies size as she was pulling her out and I asked "what do we have?" and the doctor told Jon to peek over the curtain and announce for us. Jon looked over the curtain and said "Oh Alisa, it's a girl!" and we both started crying. What a great moment for all of us - full term healthy baby girl! We still can't quite believe that we have a little girl, I think both of us were prepared for another little boy. Things are going very well and Harper is just a doll! Here's a bunch of pictures to show off our little chunk!
Proud Daddy got to hold her first!
I had big plans to shower and fix my hair so I would look decent in all the birth day pictures when we went in for our scheduled c-section on Friday morning. BUT when you are awoken in the middle of the night the day before, your plans go out the window! I'm crying here as I hold her in recovery.
Gavin has been great so far and showed up in his Big Brother t-shirt and asked to hold the baby. He kisses her very sweetly too!
Day 2 and I was able to brush my teeth and give myself a quick washcloth bath. Harper has her eyes open (she's been sleeping A LOT).
Did we mention she has hair?
Nana gets to hold her 2nd granddaughter!
Grandma gets to hold her first granddaughter!
We got an AWESOME surprise this morning - Jennifer and Garrett came to meet the newest member of the family! They can't stay long but we are so glad they are here!
Thank you for all your prayers and support during this pregnancy! They worked and we are very blessed to have Harper join our family!

Alisa and Jon, all our love and many congratulations on the birth of your new daughter Harper. She is beautiful. Many blessings to all of you.
