Gavin loves to play hide and seek and it's a hoot to play with him! The last time we played I just had to run and get the camera because this is Gavin's favorite hiding spot - what's even funnier is how he answers "yeah" when you ask "Is he in the kitchen?, Is he in the bedroom?" while you are trying to find him.Gavin has recently decided that Daddy is his favorite. I guess I had a good run for 2 years, but it still breaks my heart when he chooses Jon to rock him and read to him at night. There were times over the past 2 years when I wished for a break from all the clinginess, so it's amazing how quickly you feel sad when you are suddenly second fiddle. I know that I will come into favor again, so in the meantime, I am enjoying my few moments of quiet time when I don't get bedtime duty.
We have been preparing for cold weather (as soon as the rain stops anyway) and so we bought Gavin new gear. He actually likes wearing hats and actually cried when I tried to take off the new hat and gloves after we made sure they fit! He's funny that way, he really can get attached very quickly to something and heaven help you if you take it away, throw it away, or take it off!

So we hired a new cleaning guy. He's a bit short, but he seems to like the job! He tells us that he used to have an irrational fear of the vacuum, but all he needed to overcome his fear is to take control of the situation.
We've been asking Gavin what he wants from Santa for Christmas and guess what he wants? A "bak yacuum" (black vacuum). Hmmm, original. Unfortunately, Santa has only found cute pink ones (shocker) or red dirt devils that come in kiddie size. Not sure what Santa's going to do this year, so if anyone knows any elves that make black vacuums, let us know! And lastly, thanks to Lisa for visiting us last weekend - we had a good time bowling (even though the lanes were too slick for Jon to bowl well ;-) and eating our international fare all weekend. I told Gavin before she visited that Lisa and I have been friends since I was his age. Unfortunately, Lisa was doing the math while she was here and seems to think that can't possibly be true, and maybe it was more like 3. I don't know (it's not like I actually remember events in my life at age 2), but that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!

aww!! It made me sad that you're sad cuz Jon's #1 at the moment!
ReplyDeleteI think Jon said the bowling lanes were too dry. He was just mad cause he lost!! haha!! I had fun though.
I'm sticking with the 2 year olds story too! Just seems weird that 2 year olds are hanging out. But, we did move there in 1975, so it has been 34 years! yikes! Hopefully, there'll be at least 34 more! ;)
